This week’s session opened with Acts 1, where the disciples are caught sky-gazing as Jesus ascends. Two angels basically tell them, “Alright, show’s over—get to work.” That set the tone for a deeper dive into how the church is supposed to live right now.
And when he had said these things, as they were looking on, he was lifted up, and a cloud took him out of their sight. And while they were gazing into heaven as he went, behold, two men stood by them in white robes, and said, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into heaven? This Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will come in the same way as you saw him go into heaven.”
— Acts 1:9-11
We pulled on threads from John 9 (“work while it’s day”), 1 Thessalonians 5 (“don’t fall asleep”), and John 4 (“he must needs go through Samaria”)—each scripture giving us little nudges, or maybe shoves, toward what the Spirit is saying to the church in this season.
By the end, the room was buzzing with conviction, testimonies, and a few tears. And yes—the theme came into focus. Let’s just say, it’ll get you out of your seat.
